Our one-day St Andrews experience from Edinburgh offers a relaxed and elegant journey, with ample time to explore Scotland’s home of golf, the historic town of St Andrews with its magnificent cathedral, and the charming fishing villages of the Kingdom of Fife.
Departing Edinburgh, your vehicle crosses the iconic Forth Bridge into the ancient Kingdom of Fife, passing through the coastal town of Aberdour before continuing into the East Neuk.
We pause in Anstruther, home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum, before travelling through the pretty villages of Pittenweem, Crail, and St Monans, once-thriving fishing ports whose prosperity grew from continental trade.
We arrive in the medieval town of St Andrews in time for lunch. Enjoy a leisurely walk through its historic streets, where Prince William first met Kate, home to Scotland’s oldest university, the impressive cathedral (optional entry), and the world-famous Old Course. You will have approximately three hours of free time to explore the town’s architecture, coastline, independent shops, and cafés.
Our return journey travels across the Lomond Hills to the village of Falkland for a photo stop. Fans of Outlander may recognise it as the filming location for 1960s Inverness. We then descend towards Loch Leven, the site of Mary Queen of Scots’ imprisonment and daring escape, before continuing to the picturesque village of South Queensferry for a final stop, with views of the iconic bridges.
We then return to Edinburgh, concluding your private St Andrews experience in comfort.
